In the last couple of days...
...we did stuff.

Peter Pan mini golf. A great 36-hole vintage mini golf course.

San Antonio. We spent a quick weekend there and did the touristy stuff. Sea World San Antonio was huge and more of a theme park than an aquarium. There was an impressive shark exhibit that really made me think about how I'd react to an encounter while diving. I really need to work on my shark ID skills so i don't poo my wetsuit at the glimpse of a white-tipped reef shark if I don't need to.
Aliens of the Deep was an amazing 3-D IMAX film shot from submersibles miles under the sea. It featured some incredible film of jellies, squid, octopi and shrimp that live completely without the sun. It was a very early screening and we were both a bit sleepy and missed a few minutes towards the end, waking just in time to see a simulated deep sea alien meeting, and not quite realizing it was a simulation.
The Alamo was old and closed. We'll investigate this exciting artifact of Texas history at a later date.
The San Antonio zoo was one of my favorites that i've been too. While not huge, its impressive in it's creative exhibits and habitats and lush landscaping. Much care is taken to make sure the animals live social, enriched lives in captivity. I got to cuddle a Lorikeet and we saw a baby black rhino, baby anteater and an open air tropical bird habitat with herons and pelicans and parrots just hangin out.

Lastly, tonight we saw a screening of Realms of the Unreal, a documentary about Henry Darger. He was an 'outsider' artist who no one knew about until his death. He lived a hard, reclusive life but spent all his available time writing and illustrating a 15,000 page novel about little girl slaves and their brave rebellion in a fantasy world that totally trumps anything Tolkien ever came up with.
