Stuff we've been doing lately
Blue Genie art bazaar: A huge warehouse filled with all kinds of truly great arts and crafts. Paintings, pottery, jewelry, clothing and sculpture from the very modern and chic to the very, very kitschy.
Big Red Sun: A residence converted into a garden/gift store. I want to live there.
uchi restaurant: We went here for a birthday party, which ended up with about a $700 check at the end of the night. The food was really good, a mix of traditional sushi and more contemporary Japanese cuisine. Neat interior and exterior with water features and pretty red wallpaper.
Toy Joy: So far, my favorite retail entity in Austin. This is a must-see if you ever visit. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling toys. Tiny toys, gigantic toys, retro and futuristic toys, imported novelties and candy, all crammed into a 900 sq ft space.
